ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - FIRST ALERT 7 Forecast for Sunday, June 18th, 2026: Rain chances and milder temperatures return Thursday night into Friday with the passage of a cold front.

THURSDAY NIGHT

As of 10:30 PM Thursday, a cold front is pushing through the southern Permian Basin. This front will continue to push southward through tonight, bringing the chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly along and south of I-10. There may be a stray storm in the Permian Basin by daybreak, but the chance of any one spot receiving rain is about 10-20%.

FRIDAY

Most of the area will sit behind the cold front on Friday. This will make for a much milder afternoon, with highs in the low to mid 90s for most. More showers and thunderstorms are possible; however, most of the rain will fall south of I-10 in the vicinity of the front. Expect breezy east-northeast winds and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies for most areas.

THIS WEEKEND

High pressure takes control heading into the weekend, with highs back in the mid-to-upper 90s on Saturday and triple digits by Father’s Day. The current forecast high on Sunday is 103 degrees in Midland/Odessa. More heat advisories will likely be issued.

NEXT WEEK

Most of the week will feature summer heat, with daytime highs in the upper 90s and low 100s. Expect the occasional cool front throughout the week, but rain will be hard to come by!
