Finding Family: Meet Reyes

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - A 17-year-old foster teen is looking for a family to support him as he looks to serve in the U.S. military.

Reyes is one of 435 children in the West Texas foster system. 89% of those children are living in foster homes outside of the county they grew up in, and 61% are living in homes outside of the area.

Reyes said he wants a good family.

With just months until he turns 18 and can serve in the U.S. military, Reyes said he needs a loving, supportive family that can help take care of him as he looks to protect others.

“I want to serve our country,” Reyes said. “I just want to take care of the people in the world.”

Reyes enjoys cooking, video games and travel. He also wants to take care of animals and said he would like to have a Doberman.

“They are protective and loyal,” Reyes said, adding that those qualities are important to him.
