COAHOMA, Texas (KOSA) - A late-night crash claimed the life of a bicyclist in Coahoma.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that Jerrison Moore, 39, was riding a bicycle in the middle of the I-20 north service road near mile marker 187 when he was hit. The crash happened between Apache Street and Swinney Street on Saturday, Jan. 11, at about 11:38 p.m.

Investigators say that Moore was struck from behind by a Ford sedan while riding west on the service road. DPS says Moore was wearing dark-colored clothing, had no lighting on the bike, and was not using safety equipment such as a helmet.

Moore was taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring, where he later died.

The driver of the sedan was not injured.

Texas DPS continues its investigation.
